Located in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania, the building and property, which is now Washington Commons, was part of the Chartiers Valley School system. Due to declining enrollment the school closed in 1996. The building and property were purchased by Richard T. and John E. Deklawa whose intention was to blend the building into the surrounding residential neighborhood after remodeling.

The Architect obtained the project in 1997 and assembled the Washington Commons Associates. The partnership s sole purpose after its purchase was to develop and operate a personal care facility.

Prior to opening its doors in September 1998 the facility underwent a total restoration and transformation, including the installation of an elevator, making it a state-of-the art facility.

The extensive renovation transformed this former elementary school into a modern, bright and beautiful personal care facility that has complemented the surrounding residential area as well as the community of Bridgeville.
